Obituary: Judith Kearney

(Teacher at Caterham School 1981-1997)

Died 14 June 2021

It is with great sadness to have to inform you of the death of Mrs Judith Kearney who passed away peacefully in Norwich Hospital on Monday 14th June. Judith came to Caterham in September 1981 to teach Economics and look after the first Upper Sixth girls, helping them to settle successfully in a boys’ school. In 1983 she became Head of Economics and having worked in a university in Australia, she took over the university entry procedure at Caterham and many Old Caterhamians’ are very grateful for the exceptional guidance and help that she gave them. In 1987 she was appointed Director of Studies and three years later became a member of the Senior Management Team. Judith worked tirelessly reviewing and expanding the curriculum, especially prior to the merger with Eothen School 1995. Judith left Caterham in 1997 after 16 years of exceptional service, and she will be remembered with affection by many Old Caterhamians.

Our condolences go out to Judith’s family, especially her two sons, John and Andrew.
