Obituary: Christopher Leonard Wright

For those of his contemporaries who MIGHT remember him, this is to record the devastating loss of our elder Son, Christopher Leonard WRIGHT aged 52, who attended Caterham School during the 1980s {commencing Michaelmas Term 1982, aged 11}. [At that time, our Family lived in Hyde Road, Sanderstead.]

Despite an undistinguished academic career during his early ‘conventional’ education, having {to mis-use a cricketing analogy} ‘failed to trouble the Scorers’ with his achievements, Chris subsequently Graduated with Honours at the University of Life, following terms in, variously, Australia, the West Indies, Belize, The Philippines, India, Thailand and, ultimately, his beloved Burma/Myanmar {although the troubles in that Country eventually necessitated his return, early in 2023, to the relative safe haven of Thailand}.
It is both remarkable and ironic that his all-too-brief life culminated in his becoming a highly respected freelance Consultant working on NGO-funded Projects in the educational sector, most notably for UNICEF.

Chris succumbed to an horrific mixture of medical issues at a Hospital in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on 17th December 2023, leaving a wide, devastated, circle of good and close friends around the world.

In grief,
Robyn and Tony Wright.
