Senior School Play: IPHIGENIA AT AULIS

Our suitcases are packed and we’ve got our boarding passes. Come and join us on 8 and 9 December as we watch a Greek tragedy unfold before us at the airport. With a group of tourists scrutinising their every move, the Greek army waits impatiently at the departure gate, eager to get to the war in Troy. Its commander, Agamemnon, is desperate to secure his legacy, and willing to sacrifice whatever- or whomever- it takes. But when his wife and daughter arrive, anticipating a wedding, the consequences of his ambitions become all too apparent. A mother becomes a protective beast whilst a young woman has to decide whether to fight against or accept her fate. With damning choices, a fizzing undercurrent of aggression and the ethics of war at its heart, Iphigenia at Aulis confronts us with the best and worst humanity has to offer.
