Class of 1993 Catch up

After the wonderful reunion at Caterham School earlier this spring, many of us were left wanting more—and some who couldn’t attend were especially disappointed. So, we decided to gather a group together for a night out in London Victoria.

Friends travelled from far and wide—Newcastle, Oxford, Bristol, and even central Europe—to reconnect, many for the first time in over 30 years.

We met at The Wild Tart, which supplied plenty of food and drink (the less said about the final bill, the better!). What struck us most, though, was how little had changed. The same personalities, humour, and warmth were all still there. The atmosphere was full of energy and laughter. Many of us are now parents of teenagers—and some of our children even attend Caterham themselves. Old photos from 1991–1993 circulated, bringing back a flood of memories, laughter, and even a few tears.

Of course, no great reunion is complete without a few side impacts: one person got lost on their way home, another misplaced their designer glasses, one missed their last train and went hotel-hunting at 1am, one took a minor A&E visit the next day, and one even missed a flight to New York the next morning. Clearly, the night left its mark!

What is certain is this: without Caterham—the teachers, the community, the humour, and the friendships—we wouldn’t have become the people we are today, nor would we share such strong bonds three decades later. The spring reunion gave us the spark to come together again, and for that we are truly grateful.

A huge thank you to Caterham OCA and the retired teachers who made it all possible in the first place!
