Old Eothen Girls Reunion

The sun shone down on 126 Eothen Old Girls who gathered at the school on Saturday 10th May for their reunion, which had an added poignancy this year as it was the last time the Eothen Old Girls Association would organise the get together prior to their merging with the Old Caterhamians in September 2025.

The noise of chatter rang through the room, mingled with laughter, whilst we partook of a delicious meal, followed by speeches.   Vivien Parsons (Webb OE 1964-78) talked of the time and dedication shown by committee members over the years, some of whom served for a significant period of time.  Particular mention was made of Anne Bailey who has served in various capacities for over 50 years.   A presentation was also made to Sheila Hanly who was celebrating her 99th birthday shortly after the event, and who had taught almost every old girl in the room.  Vivien also spoke about past links with Caterham prior to the merger in 1995, and the reasons for the decision to merge EOGA with the OCA, and finally, Ben Horne, President of the OCA, welcomed all Eothen Old Girls to the OCA.

Old friends met up, some for the first time for many years, and despite the years, fell straight back into the same camaraderie that had prevailed over 30 years ago, and as the afternoon faded away, common thread was the hope that Eothen reunions would continue to be held under the aegis of the OCA, a view shared by both Ceri Jones and Ben Horne.  Roll on the next one!
