OC Golf Society Spring Meeting

This year’s OC golfing season opened on 2nd April with our Spring Meeting which was once again held at Rye Golf Club in East Sussex on the south coast.

It is a privilege to play this traditional links course and we are indebted to OC, past Honorary Secretary of our society and Rye member Charlie Waud for facilitating this event.

The weather has been so dreary this past few weeks that it was no surprise to see a dreadful forecast and torrential rain as we left Surrey. However the bravery of our members was justly rewarded with very pleasant sunshine, no precipitation until the 36th hole and a gusty breeze to add some spice to the challenges we confronted.

The main event was the morning foursomes where our new Honorary Secretary Ross McInley and Honorary Treasurer Ali Bownass scored an exceptional 38 points to beat the field by two points. Following a sumptuous lunch everyone stayed for a second round of foursomes played as a two team match.

We now look forward to another successful year for OC golfers with a wide range of ages coming together with other keen players from all elements of the Caterham School family. You can learn more and apply for membership at oldcaterhamiansgolfingsociety.com where details of our Summer, Autumn and Winter meetings at other top clubs will appear.
