DELIGHTED DOZEN RECEIVE OXBRIDGE OFFERS

Twelve Caterham pupils are celebrating receiving an offer from Cambridge or Oxford University.  The dozen offers span a broad range of subjects including Medicine, Mathematics, Classics, English and Theology. A near equal number of Sixth Form pupils from both day and boarding houses gained offers and 2023’s offers bring the total number of Oxbridge offers received by Caterhamians across the last five years to 61.

Half of all Caterham pupils who were called to interview for 2023 secured an offer. The application and interview process for Oxford and Cambridge is notoriously tough and pupils gain support from as early as the Fifth Year and throughout their application process.

Ceri Jones, Headmaster, said: “Many congratulations to our pupils celebrating a significant achievement today. It is vital that we support our young people for whatever they wish to achieve beyond school.  Whilst 18+ choices are changing rapidly, with an increase in our pupils heading to US and overseas universities and opting for professional Degree Apprenticeships, Oxford and Cambridge remain fantastic options for our pupils.”

The Spectator magazine identified Caterham as the top school in Surrey for gaining offers and securing places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, based on data released from both universities. In their study The Spectator included all UK independent and state-maintained schools and colleges and placed Caterham as number one in Surrey and no.61 across the UK.
