Apologies but the Tanzania Reunion Dinner has been postponed until Friday 15th June 2012.
Unfortunately, the timing did not coincide with university holiday dates and many past students were unable to attend. After some research, we decided to move the reunion.
We do hope that you will still be able to attend next year and please contact Mr Andrew Taylor for further details on andrew.taylor@caterhamschool.co.uk
The Association has agreed to contribute to the refurbishment of the Pavilion by raising funds for the new terrace which will provide a superb and comfortable viewing area for matches on the Homefield. It will be named ‘The Old Caterhamians’ Terrace’ and donations from individual OCs of £100 or more will be recognised by names being engraved on a plaque that will be permanently displayed in the Pavilion. Please click here to download a donations form.
Calling all golfers (well, all good ones!) - a message from Jem
Blok
Depending on your point of view, with the weather as it
has been in late November and early December, playing golf may
be the last thing on your mind, or for the keener amongst us, you
might be desperately waiting for it to thaw so that you can get
back out on the course.
Looking ahead to better playing conditions,
the OCA is entering a scratch golf team into the Grafton Morrish
in 2011 and onwards. The tournament itself will take place in two
stages, with a London area qualifying taking place on Saturday
16th April 2011 at Royal Wimbledon and then should we qualify, the finals
will be held from Friday 7th October to Sunday 9th October, with
a practice day on Thursday 6th. The finals are held in Norfolk,
at Hunstanton and Royal West Norfolk (Brancaster) Golf Clubs.
The good news is that the Old Caterhamians’ Association
has agreed to cover the registration, entry and green fees, leaving
team players only with sundry expenses to meet themselves.
Given the format of the competition we need to find 6 former pupils available on the dates who would be competitive – in reality that means handicaps of 5 or below, but we’d still be pleased to hear from anyone in single figures to make sure we can at least take part!
I look forward to hearing from as many of you as possible. Please also do pass this request on to any other Old Cats that may fit the bill!
For more information please contact Jem Blok at: jemblok@cavanagh.co.uk
As promised in the latest Newsletter, please download a fascinating history and tribute to one of our old masters here:

This is a joint Prep and Senior School choir which is rehearsing three times a week. It is hugely exciting to have a joint choir with the prep school and the choir now has a dedicated choir room at Hillside.

Art work completed by Caterham students has been turned into charity greeting cards to help fund a new project in Tanzania. Caterham has linked up with Lerangwa School with the aim of raising £10,000 a year over the next 5 years.
The cards come in packs of 6 with different designs on each card (the designs can be viewed on the school web-site). Printing was done on re-cycled paper and the cards are left blank for a message of your choice.
Each pack is being sold for £2.50 or 5 packs for £10.
If you would like to purchase a pack please contact Mr. David Clark on david.clark@caterhamschool.co.uk or send details and a cheque (made payable to Caterham School) to the school addressed to Mr. Clark
Are you interested in contributing to some of the many activities taking place at Caterham School?
We would love to hear from OCs who are able to help with the CCF and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme or with any aspect of sports coaching.
Contact Mr. David Clark at the school on 01883 343028 OR on david.clark@caterhamschool.co.uk
Also – if you are considering a career in teaching… then please get in touch. We always need ‘gap graduates’ to assist with sports coaching, drama, art and music – highly competitive salaries available with great perks!! This applies as much to recent university leavers as to more ‘mature’ OCs who may feel like a career break!!
Please do let us know if you are interested in any of the above.
We are pleased to announce that we have five Old Caterhamians working at the School this year. Natalie Francis BSc 2000 - 2002, a graduate of Plymouth University joins us to teach Physics. Rosie Dell 1997 – 2004 and Lorne Barnard 2004 – 2006 will be joining us as Graduate Gap Assistants. Sophie Gill 2001 – 2008 will be assisting with the Games Department. We hope they enjoy their time here.
We are looking for more Committee Members, an Editor and a Social Secretary. Please contact our Chairman, Dave Craft (via: oldcats@caterhamschool.co.uk) if you are interested.
We are always looking for news and more importantly, photographs of old boys and girls to include in our Newsletters. Please send us details of your news, stories and achievements! Include a photograph if at all possible.
If you wish to buy something from Amazon, please use the link on the School web site. http://www.caterhamschool.co.uk/links/
The school will receive 5% commission for each purchase you make. This income will be directed to school projects and/or trips. As there is no cost to you, it is a very easy way of raising funds for the school.
