Independent Spirit: Two hundred years of Caterham School

Independent Spirit is a lavishly illustrated celebration by the distinguished corporate historian Nigel Watson of the 200th anniversary of Caterham School's foundation by John Townsend.

In its pages will be found a fascinating story of a public school with far from typical Nonconformist roots, which has quietly but determinedly survived many threatening circumstances to become one of the country's leading coeducational boarding and day schools with an outstanding record of all round excellence.

The book is beautifully designed and produced, with over 300 illustrations in colour and black and white and some rare archive images. Independent Spirit is both essential and entertaining reading for Old Caterhamians, parents and pupils – everyone, indeed, with links to and affection for the school.
